Re: Using TrackIR halves game FPS
<t>Right - good spot KillinDuck. I didn't think to check CPU occupancy.

This ties in with the results I'm seeing, as Black Shark is a super-intensive CPU game, as is Arma 2, though less so.

So for whatever reason TrackIR is taking up a big chunk of CPU time.

I'm run...

Re: Using TrackIR halves game FPS
<r>(Note - I had the 'with' and 'without' figures in my last post incorrectly reversed. 'With' should be the lower frame rate.)

Vincent - yes I have tried as admin.

I shall take your last suggestion as a graceful admission of defeat, on par with asking me to 'restart my comput...

Re: Using TrackIR halves game FPS
<t>Here's some test results. These are the only games I have which support TrackIR, so my testing is somewhat limited. All FPS measured at the start of each game level/mission.

Black Shark v1.01. 'Instant action'.
With TrackIR - 48-52ish FPS
Without TrackIR - 17-24ish FPS
<...

Re: Using TrackIR halves game FPS
<t>
You are getting this with both the TrackIR 5, and TrackIR 4 software?

No other application Icons down by the clock?
Affirm. Tried v4 and v5 software (latest versions of each). Properly uninstalled each and restarted before installing th...

Re: Using TrackIR halves game FPS
Update - it's not the 2 x GPU Crossfire setup. I disabled one of the GPUs via turning off Catalyst AI - verified only one was active via ATI Tray Tools' OSD.
No change, frames still much lower than they should be.

Re: Using TrackIR halves game FPS
<t>Thanks guys.

* I'm running 64-bit Win 7.
* My video is ATI 4870x2, so it's Crossfire, not SLI. I'm not aware of a way to disable one GPU (both GPUs on the one card on the 4879x2, so it's not a matter of just removing a card). I'll look around and see if there's a way to run just o...

Re: Using TrackIR halves game FPS
Bump.
Anyone?
Ok - a simple question someone surely must know: Is it normal for TrackIR to cause a frame rate drop?

Re: Using TrackIR halves game FPS
Moving the sensor closer to me seems to have helped the juddering issue a lot.
But the bigger issue remains, that I'm losing up to half my frames per second in games...

Re: Using TrackIR halves game FPS
A bit more info:
Using Trackclip.
3 solid green lights in camera, no light source interference.
Frame rate 120 (the number in brackets jumps up to higher numbers as I move - 120 - 130ish).
Tracking mode: segment.
Tracked objects: 3
Blue LED is on in-game.
