Well the problem is sorted. It transpires it was a Windows 7 install problem that took out a number of my USB ports. A reinstall of 7 has fixed the problem. Thanks to everyone for their assistance.

No. Despite repeated attempts at installing, the camera is not shown on the system Device Manager listing...

Thanks for your reply Vincent. I'm connecting directly to PC and yes, the device works fine on another PC running XP 64 bit.

I'm experiencing exactly the same problem in IL2 as hamselv and will try the manual fix and see how it goes. I too had the rogue red dots, but got rid of them by increasing the light filtering to 195.
