I'll update this thread for completeness and to help others searching for info on a similar problem.

I've replaced the camera and the new one is working fine. That picture was caused by a failed camera.

Its just been sat on top of my monitor, same as always.

That shot was taken in a pretty much darkened room so I can't see that light interference is the problem. Moving the camera makes no difference.

Appears its had it then..... oh well.

This what my camera settings page looks like with the camera view. If I move the light filter bar to the left, greater, then I do get some sort of tracking.
