It looks like this was a case of deffective hardware. I've gotten an RMA number from NaturalPoint and returned my TrackIR for a replacement.

I wanted ask why do there seem to be so many problems with the TrackIR drivers? Every other USB device I've used hasn't had this sort of problem. That includes, mice, joysticks, webcams, foot pedals, digital cameras, external joysticks, and memory card readers.
