I concur with redbear's assessment. It looks like the problem is related to the 180 degree view limitation described in this post. Since the TAW TrackIR mod is based on the Union Reality code in the original TAW exe, in TIR version 4 this caused an in-game FOV limitation of 90 degrees to either side...
