I had the same prob.
When I turn my head my Microphone sometimes blocks out 1 light.
Solution was to move the mic boom up or down a bit.
Could this be your problem?

It's not normal for Software to cause Device's to stop working and Video drivers also but as you changed that at the same time, try uninstalling the Vid drivers and then running TrackIR and the games, if it works ok reinstall the old drivers and try again. Did you check your Device Manager to see if...

Have you tried the old software, or have you got a System Restore point you can go back to before the probs started.

If you put a headband around the hat with a vertical stick in it to attach the clip to.

Sounds like a typical WinXP prob, I have had it a few times.
Only answer is to unistall and reinstall the software giving probs.
I have found once it starts to go you never get it back to normal without reinstalling the software.
