Re: Help needed upgrading mocap system from 6 cameras to 8
<t>Running Optitrack R2 with 8 cameras gives really nice results in rectangular staging at around 15x17, for me. With that, you get a few metres to run around in each direction from the center. Movement is captured very nicely for things like dancing or martial arts, and a thousand other things whic...

Increasing camera count from 8 to 12
<t>Has anyone had experience of how increasing cameras from 8 to 12 cameras increases accuracy and lessens occlusions?<br/> <br/> I've been running an 8 camera arrangement since the R2 cameras arrived and have gotten excellent results - gradually moving into more professional and high-end work.<br/>...

Re: 3D Studio Max plugin now available
<t>I've experienced crashing behaviour from the plugin. Hard to pin down exactly when. Suspect something to do with streaming buffer and memory.<br/> <br/> On the other hand, using a consistent repeated method, can stream and capture without crashing perfectly every time.<br/> <br/> I noticed that w...

Jog control in Arena could have some application
<t>Since the 3dsMax plugin takes a realtime stream from Arena, a jog playback control in Arena can save a lot of time in animation editing by allowing the artist to tune a rough playback timing during the transport of data.<br/> <br/> Motion builder has a great implementation of a jog control for pl...

Re: Optitrack 8 cam. Setting up advice for a solid skeleton
<t>Thanks, yes I can re-build the project again here.<br/> I loaded the calibration points and ran calculation as you suggest. I had to remember to use 120 samples rather than 100 here because that meant the difference between mostly excellent results vs mostly Good / Fair for this data.<br/> <br/> ...

Re: Optitrack 8 cam. Setting up advice for a solid skeleton
<t>I've come across a problem that is really my fault but I'd like to send you some data files if you wish to examine this.<br/> <br/> As I mentioned I'm getting solid capture with your recommended camera arrangements, and captured a scene full of data last night which went great.<br/> <br/> Problem...

Re: Optitrack 8 cam. Setting up advice for a solid skeleton
<t>Thanks for the quick reply Vincent - I set things up again today with upper cams 2.3' below the lower ones, and aimed for centre at waist height, also rotated lower cams 90 degrees. So took on all 3 of your suggestions.<br/> <br/> Solved the problem.<br/> <br/> Solid skeleton now - markers stay t...

Optitrack 8 cam. Setting up advice for a solid skeleton
<t>I've recently purchased and setup the Optitrack system with 8 cameras (R2), and have repeated a few sessions of setting up and capturing.<br/> <br/> Sometimes i'm getting really great results, but at the Arena stage I can see markers being lost pretty consistently (going grey), which leads to ske...

Re: Capturing in an 11x11x9 room
Thanks for good support Jim and I did go ahead and purchase the system. Larger space though - 11x15x8, about. Getting calibration all 'excellent' for 8 cams at 60 degrees on first weekend of setup - good volume too.
