Could this be a problem with the Trackir unit/software , or a problem with usb and maybe Windows XP power settings?

Anything I can do to help log and document to find a fix? It's not a huge deal, but just a pain in the butt

did you install cfs3 before or after the new vector software?

ok, that really helped, I'll keep testing - much better results for both vector CFS3 and vector PF.

I was so used to my trackir2 needing to be a foot or so away, I had to move the unit back

I shut down software, unplugged the usb, plugged it in and restarted software.

that did it for me.

I used the trackir3 this morning, I come home and there is no light - and it says No Data.

This requires a reboot for me to get trackir3 to start working again.

any workarounds?
