I've had strange UI issues like this when utilizing motive on 4k screens in high resolution. You might also want to try setting your adapter to standard 1920x1080, close motive, reboot and then open motive and see if you get the same issue

Could you share the actual .tak file? the file you sent was an fbx binary file, which is skeletal info. (which shows some of the problems, but no gaps)

Some networks don't allow the use of multicast, or do not support it, all depends on the hardware you have. Being that you are on a school network (if I remember correctly), most will disable this function, you might want to check with your network admin to see if it is disabled or not.
