Bryan,
Do you have any examples of applying your Optitrack to human figures? The mouse is very cute, but it's hard to get a sense of "human" movement from it, and that would be great to see.
Thanks--Tim

Re: Three Questions about Optitrack
KM, 1. I don't have the Optitrack system (yet, I still have questions), but I have tried out the boxing and tennis samples from this site on Daz models, and it seems to work pretty well. One *very* important thing I learned, however is that you can't import the bvh file directly onto the Daz figure,...

Re: Experiences of using OptiTrack
I've been watching the progress of Optitrack for years now (I recently ran across an email I sent to NP back in 2006), and it looks very promising--in fact my toes are right on the edge of the pool, but I feel like a need a nudge to jump in. The samples I've seen--like the tennis and boxing captures...

Thanks, Brad! This is very informative. I'll be sure to check out your blog periodically. (Will you be taking questions?)

Capture rate/retiming in ARENA?
I've noted in some of your bvh samples that some seem to be at 120fps, and some at 60fps. Does ARENA have different capture rates? And/or, can you retime an animation to 30fps in ARENA after capturing at a higher rate?

Re: What is the minimum volume for OptiTrack?
<t>Markdc: does that volume work out for you? Do you know (approximately) what your capture volume area is? The rule of thumb is officially that you get half the volume of your setup, but I did read somewhere on this forum where somebody said they had a 15x15 area that gave them about a 10 ft captur...

Re: What is the minimum volume for OptiTrack?
I've got (almost) the same exact question, Digitizer: my space is 11x13x7. Also, do the cameras have to be equidistant, or can they be set up in an oblong volume (say, 11x13)?

"Simple" bvh samples (Yoshi?)
<r>The boxing and tennis samples from the ARENA system are impressive, but would it be possible to get a bvh sample or two of some less "active" moves? I wanted to test adding hand, eye, and facial moves to an ARENA-animated character, but it's hard to test with the character moving around so much. ...
