Re: the new wand
I'm not an expert, and obviously you should listen to the OptiTrack people, not me, but we've had pretty good results setting the top of the wand at waist height (which is easy to measure) and then pointing all cameras at that (in portrait). That's with a 12-camera system.

Arena performance capture project with Hollywood stars!
<r>Very pleased to be able to announce this, particularly after all the help the Naturalpoint team have given us over the last six months. <br/> <br/> We're using Arena to do the performance capture for a 15-minute (ish) short film, Death Knight Love Story, starring the voices of Joanna Lumley (of C...

Re: Star Trek: Aurora part 4--full character animations
Nice work. You've got a great ear for dialogue too. What's the animation package you're using?

Re: Arena on mac?
<t>I tried using Arena on a Mac with Bootcamp - it appeared to work fine. There were some issues using two OptiHubs, but they were XP-related and I understand have subsequently been fixed. <br/> <br/> Can't say I've done the whole pipeline with a Mac, though. <br/> <br/> I really wouldn't recommend ...

Using exported actor in Motionbuilder?
<t>Dumb question, probably: how do I use an exported skeleton from Arena in Motionbuilder? <br/> <br/> I've set up the Optitrack Optical device, got the point cloud displaying and playing with the stream from Arena, but when I import the skeleton I previously exported from Arena, I can't figure out ...

Re: FIGHT!
<t>That worked pretty darn well - thanks! <br/> <br/> Next step is to create some custom sword shapes that are wider, in order to allow us to put the markers further apart. <br/> <br/> Am I correct in thinking that having a few more points (say 5-6 - we were using 4) on the sword will make it easier...

Crosshair!
Very, very simple request (I hope) - could we have a crosshair on the greyscale camera views at the middle of the screen? It would really help with getting the cameras precisely lined up!

3M 8850 reflective tape in the UK
<r>A quick note that people in the UK/EU might find useful:<br/> <br/> I spent the morning trying to find a supplier for 3M's 8550 retroreflective film tape, which I've seen recommended for making or repairing markers elsewhere on these forums. Turns out it's tricky to get hold of. <br/> <br/> Howev...

Re: FIGHT!
<r>Right - guess we need to buy some new markers, then <E>:)</E> (I'm correct in thinking that the packs of markers that you sell only have enough for a standard body capture, right?) <br/> <br/> I wonder - is there a way to create or buy a more durable marker? I'm noticing our markers are already l...
