NO TRACKMANIA?

Post by babyboy10777 » Wed Nov 28, 2007 10:29 am

Will Trackmania Sunrise/United be supported anytime soon?

Just my opinion, TM is the best driving game *overall* with 100,000+ online tracks created by users. Dirt + TRD3 may have the best graphics and physics, but when it comes to addictiveness, there is no comparison to TM. Many of my friends would buy a TrackIR just for this game and consider how many online users there are.

DRIVING GAME REVIEWS

* TRACKMANIA (SUNRISE/UNITED)

GRAPHICS: 7.75-8.5 (depends on the vehicle/track)
PHYSICS: 7 - Pure arcade style (ex, F-ZERO), not a simulation like Dirt or GTR2
FUNPLAY: 10 - Most exciting
REPLAY: 10 - Most addictive, even in 1 player mode
CONTROLS: 8 - Keyboard and joypad works well. Steering wheels can be configured for Island/Stadium
MENUS: 6 - Interface could be improved
CHALLENGE: 9.75 - Most challenging. Requires maximum concentration and accuracy
VARIATION: 9.5 - Most uniqueness with surprises (jumps, loops, etc) around every corner
OVERALL: 9.75

* DIRT

GRAPHICS: 9.75 - Best visuals, but requires an advanced video card -- Radeon X1950, GeForce 8800, etc
PHYSICS: 9.5 - Most realistic mechanics
FUNPLAY: 9.5
REPLAY: 8
CONTROLS: 9 - Best steering wheel controls. Pre-configured for Logitech G25, Momo (recommended for quality/price), Driving Force Pro. Realistic force feedback
MENUS: 7 - Logical menu design and controls, but no easy to way to exit current stage and select another. 2-3 annoying confirmations every Reset/Exit (... as if I have ever accidentally clicked exit)
CHALLENGE: 8
VARIATION: 7
OVERALL: 9

* GTR2

GRAPHICS: 7.5 - Nice perspective
PHYSICS: 8 - Good mechanics
FUNPLAY: 7
REPLAY: 5
CONTROLS: 7
MENUS: 7
CHALLENGE: 7.5
VARIATION: 2 - Extremely repetitious
OVERALL: 7 - Nothing compared to Dirt or Trackmania

* TOCA RACE DRIVER

GRAPHICS: 9 - Good graphics and physics
PHYSICS: 9
FUNPLAY: 8
REPLAY: 7
CONTROLS: 6
MENUS: 6 - Interface looks deceivingly attractive, but is difficult to navigate and way too many confirmations
CHALLENGE: 8
VARIATION: 6 - Repetitive
OVERALL: 8

I don't know. I will email the developer relations team, and see if I can get some feedback from them. It could take a few days, as they are at a tradeshow this week.
