Any chance of you making the software open source since the product is no longer going to be updated? The software hasn't been updated since 2012. I depend on it and would love to add some new features.

Thanks.

Hello MarkcusD,

Thank you for taking the time to reach out here in the forums. It is not likely that we will make the software open source. It is not our intention to lock anyone out of using their PCs. When SmartNav came out 20 years ago, there was very little in the way of offerings to help people engage with their PCs, but in 2019 there are plenty of alternatives to enable everyone access to computing. We are confident that there are options for people who need this technology, and that it doesn't have to come from us and in some instances will be less expensive than our existing offering.

We will still be offering support, and will still accept inquires for repairs. Please continue to send us Support tickets via the link below:

That nice, but looking people out of there pc's might be exactly what you are doing in some cases. At the moment I have not found any decent alternative and I'm also disappointed in support and the attention the software has gotten over the years. That said it still works.

If you cannot open-source the software, for which there could be many valid reasons. Could you at least think of opening up the protocols necessary to talk to the device and control it. That way users could have a way forward with the device if they wanted to.
