We are happy to announce that a new release of the SmartNav software is available for download. This release primarily adds support for the new SmartNav 4 product, however existing SmartNav 3 users will also benefit from the tracking and motion smoothing enhancements.

I downloaded the new drivers, and am using them with my SmartNav 3. However, cursor movement is noticeably more jumpy than the previous driver. Smoothing and cursor speed is set exactly the same as the way I had it with the old drivers (all maximum).

Any suggestions?

What are you seeing on the tracking screen?

I'm seeing the reflective dot outlined by a slightly bigger green circle. There are no other reflective surfaces being picked up, but I can see that the green circle outline is behaving slightly erratically. In other words, it jumps around a little bit, making it difficult to keep the cursor completely steady.

Should I try a bigger dot?

Did you start with a clean install of the software?

Deleting the old SmartNAV folder, before reinstalling?

Bigger dot as well, would be fine........

I've tried your suggestions, but nothing seems to help. Reverting back to the old software resolves the issue. Not sure what else to tell you.

Thanks for the feedback, we will test more here, smoothing should have been improved for the SN3, but as you state, you are having a different experience. Reverting to the previous driver is the right call for the moment, until we can determine the cause.

We would like to find out what may have not been working for you and resolve it. If you can answer a couple more questions it would be very helpful.

What is the version you were using before Build 34?

You mentioned having the smoothing and speed set to maximum, can you confirm that the Vertical and Horizontal speed was 20 and the Smoothing was 120?

How large of a dot are you using?

What is your distance from the camera?

Are all four front-IR LEDs working/visible in your SmartNav 3?

Can you email a screen shot of the tracking window with your dot showing (old software) to support@naturalpoint.com?

If you can include a copy of the profile you are using when you email the screen shot, that would be very helpful as well.
