Hatclip Reflective material

So...my hatclip reflectors are looking a little worse for wear...so decided to get some grey reflective tape ..looks like the existing tape but shiny instead of matt.

Anyway after cutting to size and putting them on they don't reflect anything ...obviously the tape is reflective as if you go in dark outside it glows like a lighthouse when you shine a light on it.

So whats up? Just what is the reflective material used on the hatclip ?

I can order from USA but here in UK all i see is dots for sale and mine are naturally rectangles of tape

Hello stiffy65,

You need to make sure that it is IR reflective tape you use. Technically any reflective tape can be tracked, but it would require you to lower your light threshold. Which would then allow for more light interference, causing erratic tracking. You need to be precise when replacing the tape as well. The size, shape and position of the markers is very important as well. In order to receive responsive and fluent tracking, the markers need to be exact.
