Software version 3.13 (last I know of for TIR2).
I am currently sitting idle at 31c case/35c CPU.
If I turn on the TIR by starting the software, My temp goes to 40-41c on the cpu. Nothing else will do this except for an actual game or benchmarking software.
System:
MSI K8N Neo2 F
3700+ Sandiego w/Arctic Cooling Freezer64 pro
Sapphire X800XL AGP w/Cat 6.8's
2x1gb Geil PC3200 Ram
Audigy2
WinXP home with ALL updates.
My thoughts are that it is some kind of software glitch that is causing the Thermal sensor on the CPU to read wrong when the TIR software is started.
Any other thoughts?
TrackIR 2 software= 5-6 degree temp increase?
Re: TrackIR 2 software= 5-6 degree temp increase?
That is very strange, is the trackIR plugged in as well?
Is there any system instability?
Plugged directly into the system, no hub connections?

Re: TrackIR 2 software= 5-6 degree temp increase?
Yes TIR is plugged in. I use a powered hub which has never given me a problem. It has its own wall plug so its not stressing the USB port.
Absolutely no system instability. Can run Prime all night with no errors.
I will try without hub just for giggles

Re: TrackIR 2 software= 5-6 degree temp increase?
Let me know if it works ok plugged directly into the system.
Re: TrackIR 2 software= 5-6 degree temp increase?
Well, This turned out to be a interesting little discovery!
I plugged my TIR into my rear USB port and tested. Low and behold, no temp increase.
So I got thinking....why? So I checked my powered USB hub and the AC adapter was not plugged in to the unit. So, I disconnected My Joystick from the hub (which was the only other thing plugged into it), disconnected the Hub from PC, then Plugged it in.
Then I plugged in my Joystick again and switched the TIR back to the hub. It still overheats! Very strange.
So, I plug TIR back into the rear USB port and my temps are normal, no overheat.
Here is the kicker. I unplugged the USB port and plugged my Joystick into the back of the PC and my temps dropped 1-2 degrees!
Figure that one out.
Thanks for the help Vincent. Even though I shoulda caught this myself. Kinda shameful really.
