I just got the TrackIR 3 Pro in the mail today and am having the same problem with installing the drivers. If someone could give me the magic fix, I'd greatly appreciate it, lol.

Nevermind, that little zip file 'NPRegFix' took care of my problem. Thanks!

Hello all,

Like others, my brand new TrackIr 3 Pro plus Vector 6DOF doesnt work. I've only got an unrecognize USB driver after try the device in all USB ports of my motherboard, all drivers from naturalpoint site, install-uninstall etc like others guys in this forums.

I downloaded NPRegFix.zip, but still the same problem, I only got "Not device detected that needed to be fixed". I have my device "off", without any light (no green, no red, no nothing .... completly DEAD).

Not normal to pay 170, spent one day trying to install for nothing ... I have read forums about USB topic but dont find a clear solution !!

My serial is: 31165, I bouth my TrackIR in Internet from EEUU, shiped from UK, but live in Spain and I dont know what to do with my "bug" device.

My install.log from NaturalPoint directory:

Here I go with my "setupapi.log":

I'm in the exact same position. The effort certainly isn't justifying the cost at this point.

I'm hopeful though that Wayne has a nice software fix that will get us going. If I have to RMA this device and am expected to pay for shipping, then you can guarantee that it's just going back for good. I'd really like to get it running though, so lets see what happens.

Ok, here I go. I have a Track IR 3 Pro(ser#32262), it was working great until July 6, 2005. On that date I had a "Ulatr Xconnect 500Watt ATX power supply and had my computer guts moved into a Cobra series tower because the old Dell tower was to small for the new power supply. When I got my computer home and hooked up all my USB cables (printer, X45, head set w/mic and my Track IR 3 Pro) all were good except the Track IR. I have read thru the forums, used the trouble shooting guide, used the regedit zip, deleted reg files and god knows what else. And the Track IR still wont work, I've talked to one of your beta tester (he's in my squad 44thVFW) and he had a problem like mine but could not fix what is wrong with mine. I've installed and uninstalled the software many times and no luck. In the device manager it shows up as "unkonwn device" and has no drivers loaded. I don't have a clue what happened, but I need help.

Has this issue been totally resolved or is it still a WIP? Got my TrackIR over a week ago and it worked fine. However, a system crash and automatic reboot occured yesterday and now my machine won't recognise the USB device. Followed this thread and did everything as outlined: updated to ver 4 after running reg. key fix (which reported no requirement to do so).

The wierd thing is that when I physically disconnect the device I get the message that a USB device has been found...weird.

Anyway, I hope there's a standard, all-encompassing fix soon 'cause I work with computers and I definitely don't want to be spending my free time messing the windows device drivers

Cheers,

The concept is great - but the realisation in terms of the supporting software is useless and totally buggy. The USB drivers DO NOT work and affect other USB driven peripherals. Every time the computer is re-booted users of some systems must go through an elaborate ritual, such as deleting the peripheral from the device manager, resetting registry keys, rebooting twice, reinstallingand hoping for the best it doesnt always work. The process is so time consuming and flaky that it reminds me of 80's home computer software being loaded from audio cassette.

There is also no support. Nothing of any real use, only lip service. Progress seems to be totally stalled. In the support forums, Natural Points constant response is that they are a small company and don't have the resources to deal with supporting the driver problem. Really, thats no excuse: they have issued a very poor software product that is the origin of all these requests and something must be done about it if a potentially great product is to survive. I suggest that they make the software open source and let the ever resourceful and talented gaming community get on with it. Natural Point should stick to producing the hardware - at a lower cost of course, considering such the software development expense will have been lifted from them. You never know, once out in the open other uses could be found for the product, driving further sales.

Until real progress has been made Natural Point should consider changing their name to Disap Point.

Kingphisher,

Have you e-mailed our support? I would like to assist you with the issue and it will be easier via support@naturalpoint.com or by calling into our support line 541-753-6645 and ask for me.

By the way we all got a kick out of the "new" name of our company.

My reaction is a bit late on this subject but my case is a little different but with the same problem. My XP does not recocnize the TrackIR3 at this moment. However (and here is the difference) it did work before I updated it to version 4.1.025. For some reason I had a complete system crash a few days later. After I reinstalled Windows on a different hard drive and installed the trackIR driver version 4.1.025 the XP-USB problem occured.

Hi Wayne !

After changing to Driverversion 4.1.26b to enjoy Colin Mcrae2004 my TIR3 isnt working anymore. After installing the 4.1.26b its just a USB-device with no drivers to be found. It worked for one year now starting with driver 3.12 and updated several times (latest was 4.0.020, no problems with all these updates)
I looked into this giant thread here and Im obviously not the only one with problems.

What I already did:
I could achieve to deinstall 4.1.26 beta and then started with driverversion 3.12. TIR3 is a recognized USB-Device (Natural Point TrackIR). But now I only have the Red Light in the LED in the middle. The IR-Lights are off (not possible to switch on via software). If I start the TrackIR 3.12 Software the red light goes off for 2 seconds then back on to red - no IR-Lights. The says: No device.

Before this driverchange I never had any problems. Please help on this !

The TIR Serial is: 19235

Thanks in advance
