Camera Tracking : Green Screens

Post by Birch » Thu Nov 04, 2004 3:54 pm

We are aware that some of our users are experiencing "Green Screens" in the tracking panel which displays the camera view. For some users it happens immediately, for other users it happens either periodically or after extended use.

If you are having this problem, do not start a new topic. Instead either post under this topic, or contact us directly at support@naturalpoint.com .

The following information will allow us to help you as quickly as possible :

Name
Serial Number
And if possible, a screenshot of your tracking screen.

Additional information can be found under this thread (closed).

(edit 2005, november 28 - copy content from later post in thread into this initial post)

We have this thread set to sticky to acknowledge that some people may be experiencing this issue, to make it easy for them to identify what their problem may be and to instruct them on the best way to resolve it (contacting us directly).

Not all technical support issues can be resolved on a forum, support for this issue is better suited to email for a number of reasons :
  • In many cases the source of this issue is a problem related to the hardware. This can be caused by damage during shipping, damage from excessive heat exposure, damage by excessive shock or vibration, or a hardware failure.
  • If a hardware replacement is required, it is necessary for the user to exchange private information with us such as their name and shipping address. A public forum is not an appropriate place for this kind of information.
  • Having the support conducted via email allows us to better organize and track the issue for each user.
  • The nature of resolving this issue for users can require back and forth communication. Adding this to the thread would add unecessary detail and content beyond what is already available in this thread and the thread linked from the first post.
Our support team works Monday-Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm Pacific Standard Time, our team will begin responding to requests for support that were submitted over the weekend when they return to work on Monday.
We appreciate your concern and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Any word on this problem yet? Im having a similar problem, except the tracking screen is white with a black dot. Unplugging and re-installing are not working. It worked for a few hours when I first installed my trackir, but hasnt worked since.

The serial on my trackir is 23678.

I must say it's taken some time for this to happen again but, finally it did.

Attached (I hope) is a screen capture of the effect. Note that the green colour is an artifact of the Corel Image Capture software for some reason. The real colour is a bright yellowy green.

Unit serial no is: 017104

Hopefully this problem will be a thing of the past with the up coming 6DOF software.

(forgotten to put my TrackIR Hat on when starting 4.00 Built 18 TrackIR.exe up)

Tracking view: alive
Heads view: dead
Gauges view: dead

Back to 32bits colours + boot: didn't help
Installed Built 20: No changes
Power off/On: Okay

Just received my TrackIR 3 Pro today.
Using software v4.0 build 20 I get the 100 % green screen in camera view. TIR doesnt work with neither Flight Simulator nor Pacific Fighters (IL2 FB + AEP + PF).
I've tried unplugging TIR and rebooting, but to no avail.
Drivers seemed to install OK. Software was installed before the hardware was plugged in.

Looking forward to a solution.
