Distance - sore neck
I've been a TIR user for awhile (TIR2), I have to sit 2 feet away from my monitor - which causes me to slightly lean forward I've noticed.
Because of this I have developed some sore neck muscles.
Question:
(1) Is there a way to extend the distance?
(2) Does TIR3 have more range than TIR2?
This is major problem for me - thanks!

any help on this?
Re: Distance - sore neck
Hi 609IAP_Recon
As nobody else seems to be replying to your request I felt obliged to at least try to help you.
My question is: Where is the reflective dot located in front of your monitor. Do you have it on your forehead, glasses, or what?
Myself, I have the dot on the peak of a baseball cap. This would at least give your head another four to five inches away from the receiver unit. Other than that you could try maybe putting the receiver unit back farther on your monitor.
My guess though is that if you get too much further back from the receiver unit then you may start having some operational problems.
Sorry to feel so helpless but I'm no expert on your particular problem.
Regards,
"PARSE"

Hello:
Sorry for the delay, we are all very busy with the launch of Vector.
Anyway, yes the TIR3 has a much larger range, 3 feet is no problem at all. It also has a better "return image" of the dots so it handles you turning your head better. You should notice a big difference. As always, we have our 30 day trial.

Re: Distance - sore neck
can some tell me the difference between the TrackIR3 Pro vs TrackIR 3?
ie. I see the speed difference, how does the speed affect a game? I use this for Pacific Fighters.
(I have a ATI 9800 Pro)

cool.
don't want to beat a dead horse here, but.
ok, i will.
-i usually suggest people use one of the larger dots (the squares) if they want to be 3 to 4 feet from the trackir. the trackHat should work perfectly at this distance as well. But in general, if you ever notice any soreness while using TrackIR, it's a sign you need to adjust something. either the size of the dot, or the speed settings. etc.
-the difference between a 3 and 3-Pro is all in the speed it "samples". since the 3-pro samples 120 frames-per-second - you get more precision than the standard 3 (at only 80 f-p-s). this is most noticable when moving fast, but those extra frames also help the software when it's calculating "smoothing" or other special features.
so,
we suggest the standard 3 for people who just want to see what the experience of view control is like. People who want to save a few bucks and just see if they like the idea. We suggest the 3-pro for people who want the BEST performance and precision.

Re: Distance - sore neck
i'm 2 feet away, if I back up it no longer tracks as well.
If you count the brim, I'm even closer. when I lean back in my chair, I barely get it sensoring.
If I was 3 feet away, it would only move like a few centimeters each way.
I have tried others's profiles, they make me turn way too much.
I have my speed up high just so I don't have to move as much - and I have a deadzone.
The only solution for me is to sit back, but again, if I do, the tracking is horrible.
