TrackIR stops responding
Re: TrackIR stops responding
yeah mine has started playing up again too.
Re: TrackIR stops responding
just pulled it apart, and the only thing thing that looks a bit suspect is that the usb cable splits into 4 and is soldered onto the PCB. There's some discoloration around the joints (you know that liquid that comes off the solder) but it doesn't LOOK too bad.
I did find that there was a piece of fluff in the unit near the sensor, i've cleaned that out.
Tomorrow night i'll have a chance to test it out.

Re: TrackIR stops responding
gave it a test and same story - works for a while and then seems to fail. I am wondering if it's a dry joint that is only manifesting when the unit is hot.

F4,
Does yours start responding again if you give it a whack? I don't mean "send it across the room" , but more than a gental tap.
Mine has been working for about 3 days now, since the last time I gave it a shot. But, I'm sure it's just a matter of time before it acts up again.
Would really be nice to get a response from Naturalpoint about this!

Re: TrackIR stops responding
not really.
I have noticed that where the discoloration of the pcb occurs - it feels quite warm, much warmer than the rest of the unit.
I suspect there's some sort of short there.
it's very curious.
For the trackir people - do you have any suggestions?

hehe.. click on report post.
that should get some attention.
maybe resoldering the wires from the usb cable would be a good idea

TDog,
what kind of soundcard are you using?

Re: TrackIR stops responding
SB Live.
But, my issue HAS to be TrackIR hardware related. At least 3 times I've gotten it working again by whacking it when it had frozen.

Re: TrackIR stops responding
Naturalpoint guys,
I know you're busy. I know this isn't a problem that is affecting thousands of users. But, one reply in two weeks?
Throw me a bone here, are you looking into this or not?
Is there somewhere else I can go to get a better response?

Re: TrackIR stops responding
Hi guys,
I experience exactly the same as you do!
I've bought TrackIR some time ago and didn't really use it. Then I decided that I had to set it up now for FB playing and downloaded 2.11 drivers. Now the green light is on for mere seconds - and when I tap the device it stays alight for another 5 seconds or so.
That is most embarrasing for such an expensive device...
Please help.
Thank you, Azi.
