Actually, for your situation, I would recommend the [color:"blue"]SmartNAV 3 AT model. We do offer a Trade-In discount off the price of a new unit, but you will need someone to call in with the old serial number when ordering the new unit.

The TrackIR 4, and any of our products will have some issue with direct sunlight, as they are using a system based off of IR, or heat sources, and the sun is a big heat source. As far as stray heat sources, these can be filtered out much better with the newer software, and hardware.

No the TrackIR is not like the TrackIR 2, in that the TrackIR 4 is designed only for use with games. For use on the system desktop, you would need the SmartNAV 3 AT model. This would have all the same functionality that your current hardware does, and would be the best replacement for your current hardware.

The current versions of the software have better light filtering, so it is easier to eliminate stray IR light from interfering with the tracking of the SmartNAV unit.

[color:"blue"] TrackIR3 (w/ or w/o Vector) - is designed to be only used within gaming applications (i.e. - Flight sims, FPS, Racing applications)

[color:"blue"] The SmartNAV 3(AT) model - Is designed to be used on the desktop, basically replace the standard mouse on a computer system. The AT model has a port to plug in foot or hand switches, comes with an onscreen keyboard, as well as dwell clicking software which allows you to do all mouse functions with just head movement.

The SmartNAV can also be used with games for movement as well.

If you don't require the onscreen keyboard, or the dwell clicking software. The get the SmartNAV Standard.

How do you current make left mouse clicks?
