Tips and Tricks

Post by Osram »

Lets do a thread with tips and tricks for TrackIR users.

Each time I use TrackIR, the chair has moved a little or I sit a bit different or TrackIR has moved. To make sure that when looking straight the dot is in the middle of the field of view, I go into advanced settings and move the TrackIR so that the dot is in the middle.

I just looked into Task manager and had a shock:
With advanced settings open, TrackIR uses about 20% of the CPU power, with it closed, about 2%. Obviously, drawing the picture captured by the camera on screen costs much time.

So, my tip is:
Before starting the game, close the advanced settings.

I came across this tip a while ago while tweaking Soldier of fortune 2 in XP and find it seems to help with TIR in IL2. Anybody else want to give it a go?

"WindowsXP is a great OS, but one problem I find that bugs the hell out of me is Mouse Acceleration. It's especially irritating when I play FPS games. Luckily there's a simple fix for this. Click the Start Button, go to Run and type Regedit.

From there go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Control Panel -> Mouse folder. Find the SmoothMouseXCurve: and SmoothMouseYCurve: binary value's. Here under the binary SmoothMouseXCurve you'll want to change your value's to look like this...

00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
00 a0 00 00 00 00 00 00
00 40 01 00 00 00 00 00
00 80 02 00 00 00 00 00
00 00 05 00 00 00 00 00

And change the "SmoothMouseYCurve" values to this...

00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
66 a6 02 00 00 00 00 00
cd 4c 05 00 00 00 00 00
a0 99 0a 00 00 00 00 00
38 33 15 00 00 00 00 00

After making those changes, reboot your computer."
