SmartNav behaves erratically with Mac Mail Application

Our charity's trying to help a someone remotely who's reporting that the cursor behaves erratically but only when using the Apple Mail application. Before we arrange to make the six-hour trip to check the machine, is this a known issue? The SmartNav is six months old and the Mac's running Mountain Lion.

We do not develop the software application to run SmartNav on MAC OS. Our partner RJ Cooper and Associates has developed the software package, and is selling and supporting it directly.
