SmartNAV 3 slowly dying

I have been using my SmartNAV 3 on a daily basis for well over 10 years but last week I started encountering an issue that I fear replacement may be my only option.

It began with my mouse cursor jumping up and down erratically then loosing tracking altogether (no green light). After random amounts of time between a few seconds and 10+ minutes it would return to normal. During this "down time" the tracking screen within the SmartNAV program shows only flickering grey lines.

I'm an experienced user and have tried many things to no avail. Such as checking for light interference / reflections, software re-installation (including older versions), trying different usb ports, and even another PC. The only thing I have recently discovered that helps is, when the green light goes off, cupping my hand over the SmartNAV camera and then removing it. This buys a few more minutes of use.

Is there anyone else out there who has experienced this and is there any hope of repair for my old faithful SmartNAV 3?

PS - This issue is increasing in frequency and intensity everyday where it is now almost a constant problem. Thanks for any advice, I need it!

Hello Maxsos, it does sound like your device is having some connection issues, have you tried switching out the USB cable?
