Doesn't work with the game BANISHED

Over the years I’ve encountered several games – including some highly-desirable ones (like some in the Total War series) – where I can move the mouse around the screen in a PC game but I can’t click anything.
This has now happened with BANISHED, which I just purchased
I also can’t scroll around the screen in that game.
Please advise
