3.5mm jack input on smartnav

Re the jack input on the back of the smartnav to use left mouse click - is the jack input a push to make or a push to break circuit? I am going to build my own switch

The input for the jack is push to close (make a circuit). Keep in mind that the individual channels are mono, and the jack is stereo, so if you don't already have one, you will need a stereo to 2 mono breakout cable.
