V120 Slim camera frame rate problem

Post by Giovanni De Francesco »

I recently purchased four V120 Slim cameras and the Tracking tool software. My problem is that two of these cameras do not run to 120 frames per second when these are set to this speed.
When I set the speed at 50%, the cameras run properly at 60 fps, but when I'm setting up to 100%, then two of them slowly decrease the speed until reaching 30 fps.
This is a serious problem when the cameras are synchronized together, because the frame rate becomes the average of all of them, which is 75fps (or at least this is what shows tracking tool) and the system works much worse than when it is manually set to 60 fps .
I am using the latest version of Tracking tool (2.5.1) and this problem occurs with any usb port, any cables, any PC, with or without HUB.
I'm trying to figure out if the problem can be resolved in some way or are the cameras to be defective.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Which video mode are you using (MJPEG, Precision, Object, etc)?

Hi Jeff,
This occurs when I use the Precision/Segment/Object modes. All three modes have no difference. But when I use MJPEG video modes the frame rate magically rises to 120fps.
I'm Looking for explanations
Thanks

This is a little unusual. It's not clear from your description what might be going on. Can you provide us will a little more detail?

When you plug in less cameras, or the cameras individually does the problem go away? Are these 4 cameras connected via an OptiHub to the PC or just individually plugged directly into the PC?

What kind of PC is this and what video card are you running?

Hello Doug, thank you for your intervention.
The problem arises both when the cameras are connected individually, either when they are connected all together, and when they are all connected and in wired sinch.
When I connect a single camera and set it to 120 fps, one of them run to 30 fps.
The other instead reaches up to 80 fps but slowly after a few minutes. The other two cameras do not give me any problems and runs at 120fps.
This happens either when directly connected to the pc and when it is connected through the Hub (7-port D-Link). I do not have a OptiHub.

I tried on three different computers and the result is always the same.
An i7 2.6ghz / Geforce GTX 560
A Box workstation with xeon and Quadro Fx 3700
Another older PC with Geforce 8800 Gt.

Let me know if you need more information and sorry for my English. At most I can record a video.
Thanks

I think we should get you replacements right away so that we can inspect these cameras ourselves. Contact support@naturalpoint.com about an RMA.
