About mixing r1 and r2 cameras and wall mounts..

Post by nildo »

Hi all, i have a question, i wanna add 4 r2cams to my existing 8 r1 setup, i bought some wall mounts for these 4..only when i fixed these to the wall i didnt pay much attention to the orientation of them, so the "in between" cameras (the r2) are mounted being protrait (sensors landscape) and not lanscape like the video showed, will this cause any problem, with regards to accurarcy?

Can i keep the cameras in portrait (sensor landscape)

What exactly would i loose here, in terms of volume quality

Volume is a square and these r2 are in the top middle of each side, like the truss diagram..but fixed to a wall not a truss

Hi Nildo,
You can keep your cameras in portrait mode. How large is your capture space and how higher are your cameras mounted? You can go to this page for a lens calculator to determine the field of view of your cameras from specific distances: http://www.naturalpoint.com/optitrack/p ... 12-lenses/

Having the cameras mounted in portrait mode means you are losing field of view horizontally and gaining field of view vertically. If is it more important for you to have camera overlap on the horizon then I would suggest mounting the cameras horizontally.

If you let me know dimensions of the room you are in, I can give you a better idea on how to set up the cameras. If you are in a smaller space, then you may find that the portrait mode actually helps to get the height that you need.

Hi Brent,

Thx alot for replying..

The room is 5x5m and its quite tall..about 3.75m..the higher cameras are at 2.4m.
