Reference Videos Going Black in After Effects

I have a series of takes within Motive, all of which were recorded with a couple cameras set as reference cameras. I can see the videos, I can export the videos. I can play the videos in VLC.
Importing them to After Effects is another matter. All of the videos - which again, PLAY JUST FINE in VLC - are completely black.
I'm guessing this has something to do with the file interpretation, but I'm a tad baffled here.
