Sync optitrack with EEG brain activitiy recordings

Post by cristina.simon »

Hi all,

We are trying to send triggers to the Motive software to synchronize the OptiTrack V120 Trio with our brain activity recording system (EEG). We are attempting to send triggers from a custom-written script in python to the Motive and the EEG system. These triggers indicate the start and end of the task, that will be necessary to automate and ease the analysis later on.

We thought about using the Track Bar I/O of the V120 Trio camera for that. We tried to connect the computer to the Track Bar with an audio cable (computer end) and the input from the Track Bar (camera end), but the software Motive did not recognize this input while the script was running.

We would like to know whether it would be more efficient to forward the trigger via this Track Bar to the EEG system or whether it would be better to do it separately. For the EEG amplifier, we need a mini-HDMI input. Should this not be possible, would an external sync device be necessary?
Also, for whichever option is best, which connection and cable would you recommend for this purpose. It is very important to us to minimize the lag of the system as much as possible.

Thank you very much in advance!
Best,
Cristina
