About the LEDs - Intensity?

Post by bauerma@in.tum.de »

hi,

i could not find any answer to the question how much IR light the LEDs on the camera do emit (some people are concerend for eye safety reasons)

is it possible to get the specification of the used LED and the electrical specifications how they are used in the camera?

more imprtant question: does the camera use LED flashlights, or constant illumination?

thanks a lot.

martin.

Hello:

The IR LED is a standard 850nm 5mm package. It uses about 50ma of power for each pair, so about mid level for them. They are on all the time, but you can turn them on and off via USB control. It is possible to modulate them via the micro controller, but that takes a lot of resources from the chip we use. Overall power output, in terms of miliwatts per ster radian is about 1/300th the ANSI recommended value, so they are not very bright, when compared to a standard light bulb.

Hope this helps, let me know if you need more info.
