I am somewhat confused as to real time streaming

Post by therasoft »

I have the following system and I am considering a purchase soon.

Win xp 64 bit 8 core 10 gig
I have motion builder 2009
Autodesk Softimage 2010 with facerobot.

Can I stream to facerobot?
Can I stream to Motionbuilder 2009?
If not, when is this going to happen? Or will it?

Or am I just using c3d files for expression and bvh for body.

I am having difficulty sorting it out from the timing of posts and promos and aquisitions.

Thanks,
John

Not yet, but we hope future public versions of Face Robot will allow for streaming to it. Please see this post :

Yes.

Besides streaming for expression, c3d is currently the only other export route for face mocap data. Body mocap data can go out via streaming, c3d, bvh and fbx.

The following page on our site is a good reference :

Thanks for your replies.
I am curious though as to the companies official position with autodesk on this. Is their a contract to say nothing which is why the thread says nothing?

Softimage was acquired some time ago, they have released 7.5 and 2010 already and I can't imagine that you haven't asked. So can you tell me it is an offical go, or not as it should have been long enough to get an inkling by now unless someone got hit by a car:)

I do appreciate any hints.

Also, in further reviewing your website I see that motion builder is not supported on 64 bit system is that still correct?

MB is currently supported on 64-bit Operating Systems (with the exception of Win XP-64 for the MB 2009/2010 plugins)

We are currently trying to get a public release of the facerobot plugin. beyond that, I really don't have anymore information.

If you'd like to see Face Robot support real-time streaming, consider sending Autodesk an email or posting on their forums to encourage them :)
