In theory, if the trackir device was mounted above you with the trackclip facing up, couldn't this be used to track all the current 6dof plus allow full 360 degree movement?

Just something that occurred to me.

Would it work? (in theory of course)

(I just ordered the trackir4 with clip bundle, can't wait for it to arrive)

Unfortunately, not. Because a single camera has a lack of depth perception, it has to make assumptions about the orientation of the clip based on the position of the reflectors and the assumption that you're facing the screen. In order to track objects rotating in 360 degrees of yaw, you would need at minimum two cameras with unobstructed views of the markers.
