Over the shoulder lean feature

Post by Maetharin »

Dear devs of Naturalpoint.

I would love if it were possible to simulate natural behaviour of your neck when turning your head beyond 90°.

To be more specific, instead of being able to move your head 180° without impairment like an owl, I would love to have yaw beyond 90°to directly influence x-axis behavior in the same direction.

This picture clearly shows what I mean.

I wish you a wonderful day

You can do that by adjusting curves.
Here is a good example and tutorial:

Thanks RustInPieces, that's awesome! And yes, I find it much more immersive when you can "feel" the pilot moving his body along with his head to check what's happening behind the plane, it's a small but very pleasant thing. In a perfect world, it'd even be great to implement mechanics such as the shape of the canopy and the straps holding the pilot in place that'd hamper looking behind the plane, but that's something that's still too difficult to code if I'm not mistaken.

That works in DCS because DCS itself has this function, not because you can set it up in TrackIR software. In IL2 for instance, doing this it is not possible at all because in IL2 you don't have neck displacement, your view is just a floating point.

I hope NaturalPoint adds this feature as Opentrack has it.
