Supporting F13 to F24 displayed as Hot Keys

Post by James Hallows »

Howdy!

I've had a TIR3 for some time but with all the Cougar work, haven't had much opportunity to use it. I'm now spending all my spare time flying (at long last!) and treated myself to the TIR4 with TrackClip Pro.

I'm delighted to see that you support function keys F13 to F24. This is very useful for F4 pilots who will invariably have every single key mapped to some avionic function, and who don't want to use the typical F7, F9 and F12 function keys. (Whilst I remember if it's not in the FAQ somewhere, it might be useful to add that there, that if a user finds these keys no longer doing anything in their sim, it's because TIR defaults to trapping of these keys. May I suggest to the developers that this trapping of these keys is not the default setting? It's not needed to be and I've seen this question arise many times on forums.)

Anyway back to where I was going with all this.

Your software is displaying F13 to F24 as 124 to 135 inclusive. (I've done this before in my software!) Would it be possible to change this to display F13 to F24 instead?

If you have a Cougar there you can see this for yourself with the following file:

BTN H1U USB (D68 U68) Rem F13
BTN H1R USB (D69 U69) Rem F14
BTN H1D USB (D6A U6A) Rem F15
BTN H1L USB (D6B U6B) Rem F16

BTN H2U USB (D6C U6C) Rem F17
BTN H2R USB (D6D U6D) Rem F18
BTN H2D USB (D6E U6E) Rem F19
BTN H2L USB (D6F U6F) Rem F20

BTN H3U USB (D70 U70) Rem F21
BTN H3R USB (D71 U71) Rem F22
BTN H3D USB (D72 U72) Rem F23
BTN H3L USB (D73 U73) Rem F24

Cheers

It is something that I will run by the development team, but it sounds like the TrackIR software is just listing the keys as what the DirectInput driver is detecting them as, which is what we use for giving the "keys" a name.....

Vincent, would it be possible (respectively could you do it, please ;) ) to allow DirectX-buttons, too? The more complex a game and the more functions it provides, the better to assign a DX-button instead of a keystroke since the latter rather sooner than later may interfere with a sim's functions...

Please add DX-support!
