2 TrackIR devices in one system.

Post by kx2us »

Is it possible to have two TrackIR devices in one system? Will the driver see two devices or just combine them as one?

The next generation product will allow users to create trackIR 'arrays' for pixel accuracy on multi-monitor setups and such.

Halstead,
I love using TrackIR and I'm always interested in new advances in TrackIR technology.

You mentioned "trackIR 'arrays' for pixel accuracy on multi-monitor setups". I plan to build a multi-monitor setup next year.

What exactly will the track IR arrays do? What is pixel accuracy?
Thanks a bunch!

Part of the challenge will have to do with how the handoff of the head tracking is smoothly transitioned from one device to the next as the "dot" reflector is out of range as the user's head pans across multiple monitors.

It may be, that it makes more sense to have one TIR (head mounted?) but multiple DOTs placed on the multiple monitors. Cheaper implementation too. Still it would take software enhancements to deal with the area transitioning and view control.
