Been watching the TrackIR for a while now. Software has been improving but the hardware seems unchanged from the start.

- Will a TrackIR be available with USB 2?

Many non-documented things have been changing in the trackIR hardware, but not of significant functional change. There are now nice custom rubber feet and new press cut, as opposed to laser cut, metal bases. The inside electronics have been revised over 3 times since we launched 2 years ago. The lens system has been revised and upgraded to be more consistent. Also, new units ship in a clear plastic case. Most changes occur after serial # 5000 and then again at #6100.
Our product road map shows for us to release new hardware, including more changes, in the 1Q of 2003, just after the new 2.0 software is out.
As you mentioned, we upgrade the software quite a bit, but this new revision will be huge. It will be worth the wait!
