Grand Prix Legends (GPL) support

Post by sc1949 »

Any idea if GPL will get any support from Naturalpoint, as it's a great racing game, with a very large following, and the development rights etc., have just been bought by ex-employees of Papyrus. Also they just had a big Demo of what you can do with original.

Thanks

I would also be interested in GPL support. It's an amazing sim - way ahead of its time - and has a huge fan base.

Hopefully NASCAR Racing will decide to give full swivelling head motion in future releases too. Just having the front quartering views is not enough.

But it's looking like GTR is where it will be in terms of natural head movement.

And man - is it ever beautiful!

I decided not to buy Doom3 and instead get GTR when it hits the streets. Can't wait...

Hey SC - I was checking out GTR at Black Hole Motorsports and saw there is a GPL 2004 coming out and it has screenshots...

This could be fun!

Well dang. I guess it's not that bad though - I see what GPL 2004 is now - the original 1998 sim with all the patches and such.

Hello GPL fans

My GPLshift+ util. has supported GPL TrackIR Look Left/Right since October 2002!
http://forums.naturalpoint.com/cgi-bin/ ... 5;t=000001

http://forum.rscnet.org/showthread.php? ... pl+TrackIR
(RSC Forum)

And v0.590 will come with TrackIR Enhanced support for GPL, I hope that Birch Zimmer will answer
my email (Subject: GPLShift+ 0.59 TrackIR Enhanced Support & 2 DOTs for GPL) about GPL Program ID# (gamesupport.np gpl.tir) etc.

Is it possible that NP could add GPLshift+ to "Third Party Utilities for the TrackIR" @
http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/games/allgames.html

Sorry for my english, I am Danish

JSJ,

I believe that Ken Street has e-mailed you. Thank you for the great news.

When you refer to the GPL Program ID#, do you mean the developers ID? Birch is away on vacation, if I can help please let me know.

Hello Wayne

Yes I have received mail from Ken Street, Great!

GPL Program ID# = NPProgramID

seen in the old mini SDK "trackIR GX Remote Interface Specification" I have receive in 2002:

"NPProgramID = (this number is assigned from and registered with Eyecontrol technogies)"
//Register the application so that a custom profile will be loaded if one is available
..."

I noticed in NP v2.11 that Strike Fighter Project 1, BoB & IL-2 Forgotten Battles has ID numbers,
and when these games send the number (WinAPI SendMessage/NPClient) it should load the games profile
(.tir) file, created by user if found, as I understand it.

JSJ,

Okay I understand what the problem is, yes you are correct about the "WinAPI SendMessage/NPClient".
Let me talk to Ken tomorrow and I will get back to you.

That would be very cool to have some TrackIR support in one form or another for GPL! Is this easy to setup or is it tough?

Hi JSJ,

I downloaded your 0.581 last night, but I haven't had a chance to set it up yet. I see that you're attempting to implement Enhanced support for version 0.59. Any idea when that may be available for testing? Just curious.

I posted a similar question on your forums, but thought it couldn't hurt to ask here too.

Have Fun!
