Track Ir 4 green led goes out during flight IL2 1946

Recently while in the middle of a flight the trackir stopped working. The four red led lights stay on as well as the blue "game enhanced" led stays on, but the green led goes out. If I press the key to pause TrackIr the green led turns red. What would cause this led to stop working all of a sudden. No lights behind me. This has happened twice now in two days.
Location of the monitor and tracking head have been in the same location now for several years.

MAILMAN,
It sounds to me like it stops seeing your TrackClip. Are you using the TrackClip PRO or the standard TrackClip? Does this happen during any other game or simulation?

I have the track clip. So far it has happened twice (in the last week) while playing IL-2 Sturmovik 1946. It never happened in the past so this is a new behavior and I have had my TrackIr for a number of years without any problems. The only way to get it restarted is to exit the game, shut down TrackIr software, restart the software and load the game. The only other games I use the TrackIr for is Aces High (no issues yet) and CFS3 which is not currently installed on the computer.

It hasn't happened since I posted the problem so I don't know what caused it. I have had this TrackIr 4 for a lot of years and I never had this phenomenon happen ever and it happened twice in two days.
