TIR4 (4.1.029) runs fine but when I try to close the program it hangs. Doesn't matter whether I use File/Exit, the 'close program' X, or the system tray icon - TrackIR hangs and I have to resort to Task Manager to close the 'not responding' program.
Any solution?

And you are using the latest "Final" version of the software? There was an issue with that on an earlier version of the build 29 software.
If you go into the Task Manager, on the processes tab, what is the percentage of CPU being used by the TrackIR software when this happens?

Yes - using final ver 4.1.029, posted on the web site 30 November 2006.
In Task Manager I watched CPU usage over about a minute when I noticed that it was not static. It fluctuated mostly between 2% and 8%, but spiked to 19% and 22%. That seems a bit odd for a process which is "not responding".

Any other applications running in the background?

Firewall and AV running in the background. I have tried disabling both but it makes no difference - trying to close TIR it still freezes.
All profiles are 2 Kb.

1 - Try disabling Periodic News Check, under Options
2 - Try a clean software install
Remove the TrackIR software by doing the following:
a. Click "Start"
b. Click on the "Control Panel"
c. Click "Add/Remove Programs"
d. Find "TrackIR" and click "Change/Remove"
e. Once launched it will give the option to completely remove it.
f. Delete the NaturalPoint folder at the following location, C:\Program Files\NaturalPoint
g. Download and reinstall the software from the following location, http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/06- ... nuals.html

In fact, Periodic News Check has been disabled since I first installed the software.
I will try a clean software install as you suggest - but that will have to wait till tomorrow now. Is it worth trying the older version from the CD instead of the downloaded 4.1.029 final?

Try the build 28 version first, then the build 29 software.

After uninstalling Build 29 and installing Build 28, TIR now closes OK without freezing. I am inclined to leave things as they are, unless you want me to try Build 29 again?
