anyone tried the trackir 4 or 3 pro with 1 dot to move the cursor as mouse?

You can use the single dot to control the TrackIR 3/4 in games. It is not designed to be used on the system desktop, and the software will not allow you to perform the functions necessary to get it to work as a mouse replacement device.

To get mouse functionality on the desktop requires the SmartNAV unit hardware and software.

That function was built into the original software, but was removed when the TrackIR 3/4 hardware and software was redisned to take advantage of 6 DOF support within games, which has no use on the system desktop.

We also released the SmartNAV line of products to be specifically designed to be used on the desktop.

The current version of the software should work within Vista, but we will not have official support until after the release of Vista to general public.
