I use the ASUS A8N32-SLI De Luxe mainboard (BIOS version 13.03).

Beware that there can be 2 different settings for the USB 2.0 speed in a mainboard BIOS: 'Full Speed' (12 Mb/sec) and 'High Speed' (480 Mb/sec).
Enabling USB 2.0 will not necessarily enable 'High Speed': In my BIOS I can choose between 'Full Speed' and 'High Speed'.

If you want to see at what speed your USB ports are working, you can install and run the freeware SisoftSandra2007, which among many other things can collect information about your hardware.

In SisoftSandra2007 go to -> Hardware -> Ports -> Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller.

If you have hardware turned on that is supported by USB 2.0 'High speed' the hardware (e.g. my Canon i9950 printer) can be seen here with speed: High (480 Mbps)

If you have hardware that is not supported by USB 2.0 'High Speed' (e.g. TrackIR4) it will show up in Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller with speed: Full (12 Mbps)

Ok for the Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller the version number is: 5.1.2600.0

For the Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller it is:
5.1.2600.2180

Was keeping an eye to the outcome of this. Adding my .02 cents here.

I checked my system drivers, even tried updating again just to be double sure. He got the latest drivers.....................

I also checked with sisoft sandra and i confirm the information provided from hamslev. (ie, my wireless adapter is listed on the 480Mbps and the trackir4 being on the 12Mbps as it is on his end too).

I upgraded to Ver 6.86 for the nvidia drivers. The drivers listed on the USB controller still list the 5.x numbers from Microsoft. Not sure where to go with this. I don't have a frame of reference to determine if the Track IR is slowing down due to this problem, but on the cover it seems to be working fine, but I would like to get this resolved if at all possible. Perhaps I'll try installing it on my other machines to see if I get the same error.

razor, my take on this is that there seems to be some sort of incompatibility with tir4 and our mobos usb. Driver issue either with our mobos usb or tir4, hamslev did describe it good on his post. It could be hardware related but i doubt so, just a question of either asus/nvidia/microsoft or naturalpoint having a bug in their drivers or not following the standards.

Well im throwing this out in the air as my speciality with computers is building them and my work involves internet related stuff, however the many details of how the usb, its different protocols etc works is vague to me so i could be wrong.

I can bet that its gonna work good on your other systems (well unless they use the same mobo). Lets see what vincent has to say on this.

The error is generally related to the way the chipset drivers read the data transfer rate of the devices, not necessarily the protocol used by the device, which can cause the error, even if the hardware is using the correct protocol.

Hello all, I'm a new track ir 4 w/trackclip owner and I'm having the same issues. The very first time I plugged my hardware into my USB port it gave me the same message. My system specs are:

M2N32-Sli Deluxe
AMD Athlon AM2 FX-62 processor

The versions of the driver for my USB ports are the same as mentioned by SVoyager. Was wondering if there was any way I could force the USB to install the driver version that you had posted Vincent? Maybe if someone could zip those files up and post em somewheres so I could give it a shot?
