error 0x80040707

Hi guys,

Today after my trackir 4 with the track ir 5.200 driver sttoped working for the third time I though it could be a good idea to reinstall the drivers or update them to the latest version.

I have vista 64 and i am running as administrtor.

When I tryed to install the new version downloaded from your website i got the error 0x80040707 and it did not let me install it. I thought I had to uninstall the previous version before, so i tryed. I got the same error again and i cannot unistall it. It works for about one hour and all of the sudden it stops working by itself.

How can I uninstall it so i can try to reinstall it?

Hi vincent, two points:

First, the information you have posted to me is unaccurate because I have NOT xp but Vista on my computer, so the installshield is not in program files but in program files x86. It is not a big difference but can lead to confusion. Second, the instructions you have forwarded me are linked to the file version of the installation software. Track ir file version starts with 2.11. There is not any option for that because the only one which starts with 2 says 2.0x or less, 2.11 is deffinitely more. I tryied that one anyway without result.

P.D. It was not clear in my first message but i had the error message also when i tryied to uninstall the sowfware. I have deleted the register entries but still no luck.

Try installing the software on another PC, and copying the TrackIR folder to this system.

I can try that, but i was expecting something slightly more "professional"

So no idea what the problem might be...

Hi Vincent,

I have managed to sort it out!!!

I followed this link:

I have discover that my Common Startup was pointing to a different path not following the same system as the rest so I rewrite it like the rest and i had to create a new folder. After that it worked!!!
