Win7 64bit / FS9 - TrackIR does not recognize game.

Okay, this is bad...

I'm using Win7 64bit Ultimate, official release version.

Latest TrackIR4 Software, TrackIR4 Pro with Tracking Clip (the non-active metal one, not the powered one)

I have good tracking, three green rectangles, nothing red, it works perfectly fine in two other games I tried (Thirdwire Sims).

But when loading a flight in FS9, the blue light on the unit doesn't come on, and in the VC there's no head tracking. Not even the tiniest bit of movement.

I have made sure FS2004 is in the game list and has a profile set.

I'm at a loss as to why TIR does not recognize FS9 anymore.

There are no Addons interfering with TIR, Active Camera is disabled, otherwise it's just scenery and aircraft.

Please get me running again.

Okay, I tried reinstalling the game.

I tried running both applications as Admin.

No luck.

So, it works with Version 5 of the software.

I would prefer Version 4, which is still installed (4.1.37) but doesn't work.

Any idea why one might pick up FS9.exe and the other doesn't?

Also, minor question: After shutting down v4, the green top light on the unit blinks occasionally (logical because it still has USB power).

When shutting down v5, the blue led on bottom of the unit blinks occasionally.

Does this signify any difference?

BTW, I'm using a german version of Win7 and FS9 here, if that makes a difference. No VScan, Windows Defender is off, UAC is all the way down (disabled) and I'm logged in as Admin.

You are logged in as an admin, and you also right clicked on the exe for each and selected run as admin as well?

Working with the IR5 software, but not the IR4 software?

Nothing being blocked by the firewall/antivirus software?

Yes on all three questions. My (and the only user) "Admin" is a member of the admin group, additionally I'm launching the TrackIRv4 and FS9 as "run as admin".

Works with v5, not with v4.

Firewall and Windows Defender off, UAC off, no other security tools. I purposely removed everything that might interfere when starting to install this system.

With FS9, detection normally kicks in when you first load a flight (not in the menu). At that point, with v4 in the task bar, simple nothing happens. With v5 I'm not even "run as administrator" and it still kicks in correctly at the normal load moment, the way I'm used to it from my XP installation.

I'm not sure I ran the v4 setup as "run as administrator" but the drivers work, and v4 works in other games. I doupt a botched install would explain such a singular issue.

Okay, I did that, this time selecting "run as admin" on the setup file.

It works now, even if the apps are not launched as "run as admin".

The difference must be in the user rights when installing, seems as if an "Administrator" group user can install drivers and software, but not everything.

This is really weird behaviour - maybe put a warning somewhere. If the Software had flat out refused to work in all games a reinstall would have been my first idea, but to work in one and not the other...?

No issue, just the camera looking to amke a connection to the TrackIR software.

But why does one software leave the blue one blinking, the other leaves the green one blinking? I noticed that v5 says "shutting down camera" before it closes, does v4 too?

For me it usually is the blue led blinking, regardless of version running.
