Calibrating Eye Point Level View Within FSX?

Post by xcltm3 »

Is there a way that I am able to calibrate the eye-point/level
within Track IR4 (Vector Expansion w/ Track IR5 Software)?

Several of the aircraft I fly within FSX are fine in terms of the eye-level reference (eg VRS Superbug). However, when attempting to fly a commercial airliner such as the Airbus X A320, the std default Track IR view leaves your eye-point level way over the dash, in effect all you see is the front windshield and none of the instruments. I found I have had to sit further away from the Track IR to achieve the view I require, but that means I'm sitting away from the desk and keyboard out of reach. Zooming out is of no value as you need to read the instruments clearly.

All I require is a way to lower the eye point elevation slightly to achieve the desired result (and keep that profile for A320 and other commercial airliners).

Much appreciate any assistance.

With the way that FSX does the view control, and the way that the SimConnect portion of it works, when the TrackIR (or other simconnect view control devices) are detected by FSX they are given overriding priority by the gaming application. What you have to do is actually manually adjust the center view point within each individual aircraft, within FSX, as each plane has a separate view center point.

Here is a link to Microsoft ESP (a commercial version of FSX) manual -
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc526949.aspx

The actual section that you are editing, in each aircraft -

[views]
The following parameter define the pilot's viewpoint.

Property Description Examples
eyepoint
Position relative to datum reference point.
Airbus A321( eyepoint=48.2, -1.35, 1.7 )
Aircreation582SL( eyepoint=-0.205052,0.000000,3.604314 )
Boeing 747-400( eyepoint = -18.55, -1.97, 10.7 )
Beech Baron 58( eyepoint = -8.213, -0.8612, 2.220 )

And here is an application that may help with editing the viewpoint

How did this turn out?

I want to change the eyepoint lower too so I used the utility to look at the B737 cfg file. I couldn't decide what I needed to do to change eyepoint values. I don't see anything in the cfg file for default values that I could change.
