While the TrackClip isn't the most robust piece of hardware, I can't really fault NaturalPoint too much. I tend to be pretty rough on the poor thing, having sat on it (and the headset it was attached to), dropped it, laid it down on desks, chairs, and even the floor while still on the headset, etc.
I hate soldering, drilling, putting glue or otherwise invasive fixes to electronics. I'm more of an electrical tape and bread twisty-tie kind of guy.
Anyhow, using some standard household items in a married guy's house I managed to come up with a really solid fix.
