wand size confirmation ( 3 markers ) . preset?

Post by lalamax3d »

we (creative village) have got callibration wand (3 pts).
i attempted to measure this, my readinds
length: 680 mm app.
width: 260 mm ( distance between 3 markers )
width half: 130 mm.

1- should i use these while calibrating or should i pick preset of 500 mm wand
2- should i use width of 260 mm in 'center-distance' parameter or half of this ( 130 mm ).
thanks in advance..
regards, lala

Is this a custom calibration wand?

In general, the measurements should be center of marker to center of marker. Also, the center marker should be offset from the center a bit, so if your length is 260mm, 130mm is not a great place to put the marker, 80-95mm would be ideal. Always enter the shorter of the offset distances in the custom wand panel.

ok, i typed, 680mm in length and 90mm in centerdistance parameter. it didn't worked out well.
then in same setup, i put 500 mm wand preset and it worked (not ideal)>>details
i kept wanding for 2 to 3 minutes. it shows highquality with poor accuracy, each camera was poor. but ground detection works good. plus i can see all cameras in viewport pretty reasonable.
currently overall volume is 20 sq feet area.

i have my fears to test capture session at this point. i am thinking...

in previous two sessions, we did
first was smaller area and 500 preset worked well
in second session (next day) i attempted to increase volume a lot. more than 30 sq feet area. i tried all values and nothing worked. it never worked. thats why i started this thread. please suggest what possibilites are going to improve accuracy.?
thanks, lala

Length is the distance between the centers of the two outside markers, which looks like it's 230mm according to the original post.

Handle length is not needed.

wow. everything same, just difference. so someone else can get benefit from ..
its an image image 1 : 500mm : default wand settings
its another image image 2 : 680-230mm custom settings as per my readings

so i am going for default results

Keep in mind if Arena thinks the wand is a different size than it actually is, you'll get volume scaling issues.

There are three different factory versions. The standalone single wand was 400mm from end to end, the optiwand kit with multiple crossbars is either 500mm or 250mm end to end. The best way to know for sure is to measure from the center of one of the outside markers to the center of the other outside marker.
