Laying on ground "Prone Position"

Post by camber »

Army character moving across ground in prone position. Any suggestions on how to handle placement of markers on legs and torso. Or is this even possable? We have about 30 animations in this arrangement to do.

Ouch! that's a tough one... but I have a suggestion for you..never tried it but it should work

Setup the upper thigh and calf markers on the back of the actor..

Setup a surface a couple of feet off the ground made of lexan or chicken wire (something you can see through easily but that can hold the weight of your actor) and capture that way...

You will still need to lower some of the cameras so that they are able to see the waist marker on the front of the actor..

It is going to be tricky, but should work..

If you get a chance, rent the directors cut of Beowulf (the one with the digital Angelina..) it has a 1/2 hour or so clip on mocap that is very instructive...

Journeyman,

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunetly our deadline doesnt give us enough time to build a custom set.But we will definetly have something for next time around. So instead of a prone position this time will will have to go to a crouching position.

We will post the results as we get them done.
