The ARENA and Expression plugin for real-time streaming and recording in MotionBuilder 2009/2010 is now available for download.

Please post feedback in this thread.

Download the MotionBuilder plugin package (11.6 MB) and tutorial video (106 MB) from OptiTrack.com. Requires ARENA version 1.5 beta 4 or higher.

For Expression users, the plugin delivers a custom pipeline for streaming bone-based face animation dataperfect for video game asset creation. The free download includes:
 Pre-rigged character head
 Customizable constraint builder script
 Tutorial video (separate download)
 Sample data

The included constraint builder script is designed to be a simple departure point for all users familiar with MoBu, but it does not necessarily represent the perfect solution for all facial mocap cases. If you create new versions of the script that better suit your needs, feel free to post your solutions in this thread for the benefit of other Expression users.

In addition to bone-based animation, the new MoBu plugin package also includes 32/64 bit support, a streamlined plugin UI, alpha support for the Virtual Camera Tracker, and bug fixes. For more information, see the build notes below:

Change Log
=========
Version 2.0 (September 25, 2009)
--------------------------------
Added : Bone-based face animation Python Script template (See GoodyPack sample data/tutorial).

Added : Windows Vista/7 Support.

Added : Virtual Camera Tracker device (alpha).

Added : MotionBuilder 2009 Win32/x64 support.

Added : FaceTracking support. Now auto-detects and supports local marker position and single rigid body streaming configurations in addition to normal global marker positions.

Fixed : After loading an optical set from an FBX file, the loaded optical set does not connect correctly to the current live streaming optical set (a duplicate set is generated instead).

Fixed : 64-bit version crash on connect/disconnect.

Fixed : Switching from playback mode to live mode does not work.

Changed : Removed NAT Manager device. NatNet servers can now communicate with multiple clients simultaneously, removing the need for a manager interface.

Changed : Simplified user interface.

Changed : Optical device icon in asset browser.

Changed : Documentation updated to reflect new UI / workflow.

When you say "Face Tracking Support now auto-detects and supports local marker position and single rigid body streaming configurations in addition to normal global marker positions," does it mean the head movement can now be removed?

Do we have to follow a naming convention for the rig face bones to have the exspression face constraint script to work?
