6 camera results

Post by Anakele »

Can anyone please post a video of 6 camera mocap results so people with 6 camera rigs can know what to expect? All of the current videos available are done with at least 8 cameras or more. I understand putting your best foot forward as a company but it would be nice to see 6 cameras in action. Thanks in advance.

Andre:

Here's some examples of stuff I did with 6 cameras:

http://www.kkstudio.us/cheesecakefinal.html
http://www.kkstudio.us/cc/finaldraft.html
http://www.kkstudio.us/drawsword.swf

The following was done with 7 cameras, (one broke during setup) but it is doable with 6..

A lot depends on how you are setting up your cameras and how well you calibrate. I had mine setup at about 8 feet high, alternating vertical and horizontal, which gave me good results.

hope this helps, cheers!

Bryan,
Thank you for taking the time out to reply to my request. I've seen the cheesecakefinal before. I don't remember where though. Anyway, How large was your capture volume? Where your cameras in an oval config or a rectangular one? Alternating vertical and horizontal is a compelling idea. I just have to have the chops to brave the heat index in my garage. Thanks a million!....anyone have any 6 camera setups they'd like to share?

Hi,

here is a result of 6 cameras tracking in our studio

We have used a rectangular setup with a 10 m2 capture volume, but for processing a data we are using our own inhouse software.

Andre:

My setup is roughly 18x18 or so, a standard 2 car garage, rectangular config. (not quite square) Now, I wouldn't worry too much about heat in the garage. I'm one of the original alpha/beta testers and I've had the equipment since about October of 2007.. in my garage in Albuquerque NM. the equipment stays in there throughout the year and I've never had any issues with heat or cold (summers get up to 100+, winters below freezing). It gets uncomfortable for the performer, but not the equipment! lol

Naturalpoint might have another opinion on the heat/cold, but I've never had an issue

If you have any more questions, please let me know.. thanks!

@Sergey,
Thank you for your examples. That's some clean data for sure. How are your cameras oriented (in an oval, 1 in each corner two on the side?) I appreciate the response.

@Bryan,
I was definitely referring to me in the heat. Its been murderous this summer. my cameras are about 16ft by 12 ft apart. I want to maximize what little space I have. Thanks a lot for your advice. Oh, how are your cameras oriented (in an oval, 1 in each corner two on the side?)

Andre

Right now, I have 8, so I have them setup in a square, 4 lower, horizontally, and the other 4 at about 8.5ft, set vertically.

when i had only 6, I had 4 of them set in the corners (as much as possible) with the other two on opposites sides, in the middle of the wall, all at about 8ft high

Bryan,
How much of a difference have you noticed with 8 cameras as opposed to 6? Given the choice do you think I should get two more cameras or update my software from 1.4 to 1.6?

hmmm, that's a tough one... because both give you cleaner data... I would say it depends on what you are using it for primarily. if you only are doing captures for your own projects, and you have already a good workflow.. I'd say update the software. If you see the possibility of having to do captures for more professional applications, I'd go with the 2 extra cameras

Now, do you have v1 or v2 cameras? If you have a v2 system, I'd go for the FS cameras

I have v1 cameras...and I hope to use the cameras for both myself and for custom jobs. will 1 or the other give me more of a capture volume?
